Simone has successfully finished her first Ironman last year. Read her story below.
After my successfull cooperation with Wim towards the Ironman 70.3 in 2021, the thought of finishing a full Ironman started to itch. When I shared this with Wim, he was immediately enthusiastic, but also very realistic. He provided a very clear picture of the training required for a full Ironman, which is significantly more than a half distance. He also shared, that based on our cooperation so far, he thought finishing an Ironman should be doable.
And so we built a new trainingplan. First a good quality base for a half distance and subsequently 3 months of build towards the right base for a full Ironman. This was all based on work/sport balance and preventing injuries. The goal was to finish the Ironman and not to achieve a certain time.
I experienced the guidance and training plan as very successfull and pleasant. I succeeded to start the Ironman without injury or planningproblems. This is all due to the clear, effecetive and flexible guidance from Heldersport.
On Sunday 7 August it was time. All training was done and I was ready for Ironman Maastricht; 3,8km swim, 180km bike and a marathon run ahead of me. There wasn’t a single moment during the day that I doubted I would finish. I have been able to enjoy all the hard training of the past months during the whole triathlon. This made the moment on the red finishing carpet and the magic words: YOU ARE AN IRONMAN even more special. I had the feeling I could do another lap.
I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome for my 1st full distance triathlon. All thanks to the right guidance from Heldersport.
After this Simone has been building further to a fast 70.3 this summer…
